The electrotypes were made from wax moulds of the graffiti carved by prisoners in the stone walls of the Tower of London, mainly in the 16th and 17th centuries, when the Tower became the country’s foremost state prison.

Saturday, May 4th, I first visited the Tower of London in January of this year with my friend Steven, a fellow student of history; I at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland, he at King's College, London.

We had great fun, two history nerds running around London. The Beauchamp Tower is most famous for its graffiti, which was carved between the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, a period of religious and political upheaval when the Tower of London became the country's foremost state prison.

Amongst many inscriptions to be found on its walls is one to the tragic Lady Jane Grey, nine days Queen of England. In the Southwark district of London, close to Tower Bridge, Tower of London Appartment features free WiFi and a washing machine. The property is miles from Sky Garden /10(37).
